Using Power Beads

and Aromatherapy

to help you achieve your goals,

both magickal and mundane!

Colors, especially colored gemstones, have metaphysical properties that can affect people in mental, emotional, and spiritual ways. Wearing bead bracelets is one way to tap into those powers! Another way to use the power of colors and gemstones is in a rosary, chaplet or mala, which are different types of prayer beads. In fact, the power bead bracelets that became so popular a year or so ago are based on Tibetan mala bracelets.

Even if you do not believe in the metaphysical power of colors and gems, you can use these colorful bracelets as psychological reminders of your commitment to resolutions and affirmations you might make toward personal improvement..

Either way, Power Beads will work for you!

You can make your own Power Bead bracelets inexpensively with loose beads and elastic thread or by using one of the Power Bead kits being sold at craft stores and on TV. Something I like to do is to repeat my resolution as an affirmation as I thread each bead into place.

There is also nothing wrong with buying pre-made Power Bead jewelry. There are many people selling beautiful Power Bead items at all price ranges.

Scents work by influencing your mood and in some cases your physiology. Certain scents can help us be more alert, or more relaxed, to increase or decrease blood pressure, to relieve pain

There are plenty of safe ways to enjoy aromatherapy.

You can use light bulb rings made of metal or porcelain to diffuse a few drops of any aromatherapy oil in the warmth of almost any lamp. I recently purchased a new porcelain light bulb ring diffuser at a grocery store for less than $5.00.

There are also liquid diffusers, usually made of ceramic, powered by candle. These diffusers feature some kind of saucer placed above a spot for a candle, usually a tea light. A small pool of water is placed in the saucer, and a few drops of aromatherapy oil is floated on the water. The candle warms the water and diffuses the oil. You can also use wax scent beads in these kinds of diffusers.

There are electric diffusers that work with essential oils right out of the bottle. You can find these at health food stores.

There are also passive diffusers, which consist of an unglazed or partially glazed ceramic jar, and usually a plate or stand for the diffuser to sit on to protect the surface underneath from staining. A small amount of oil is placed in the passive diffuser, and the aroma seeps out through the unglazed parts of the diffuser. These are terrific for desks and workspaces.

You can also use incense sticks and scented candles for aromatherapy.

Choosing Your Resolution

To increase your chances for success, pick only one goal at a time, and focus all your energy on achieving that goal. Having a list of even three or more items can psych you out by making you feel overwhelmed at the start.

Then, give yourself an added strength by stating your goal in the most brief, straightforward, positive and simple way you can. Make an affirmation out of your goal by stating it in the present tense, as if you are achieving your goal in the present moment. Then say your affirmation every day as many times as you can. Make signs and leave yourself notes with your affirmation on it.

Do a little something every day to work toward your goal. Each little step you take is a measurable progress toward making your resolution reality!
